Cardiac Rehab
Cardiac rehab is a continuous process of care that begins in the hospital. It is a supervised program designed to improve your cardiovascular health and includes education on risk factor managementÂ
What is cardiac rehab?
Cardiac rehab (cardiac rehabilitation) is a comprehensive therapy combining prescribed exercise training, cardiac risk factor modification, and education on heart health, that helps you recover, build confidence and get stronger after you’ve had surgery or medical treatment for a heart issue.
Cardiac rehabilitation is a medically supervised program designed to improve your cardiovascular health if you have experienced heart attack, heart failure, and angioplasty or heart surgery. Following a diagnosis of heart attack or heart failure or after a procedure such as an angioplasty or heart surgery, participating in cardiac rehab is one of the best things you can do for your heart. Cardiac rehab helps you regain control of your health. A cardiac rehabilitation specialist helps heart patients strengthen themselves through exercise and nutrition. The duties of a rehab specialist are to monitor patients for arrhythmias, support their efforts to exercise, and identify any risks in their treatment plan.
Cardiac rehabilitation can help you regardless of your age, gender or whether your heart issue was minor or major.
Three phases of cardiac rehab
Cardiac rehab begins before the hospital discharges you and should continue long-term.
- Phase 1: Inpatient (starting while you’re a hospital patient).
- Phase 2:Â Outpatient (going to appointments and then going home afterward).
- Phase 3:Â On your own (keeping up exercises on your own and at your own expense).
IMC Cardiac rehabilitation is regulated and provided under the supervision of Cardiologist. Care is provided using international standards of cardiac rehab and is first of its kind in Pakistan.
